Mlilm Riverlands

The Mlilm river seems to flow along a bed of geothermic vents, meaning that despite the cold environment it flows through, its water is always pleasently warm. While this may seem like a good thing, the Mlilm river has been labled exceptionally dangerous. Many people have frozen to death after warming up in the river. When getting out of the warm water, many people don't dry off properly, leaving the water to draw the heat drom their bodies. As a result, a warm soak becomes a fatal mistake.    The Biethtìre are the primary residents of these riverlands, but the goblins have a number of settlements and research collectives on the shared border with the Harcnor Grasslands. Most of the Biethtìre here are based off of small woodland and grassland creatures, such as meercats, foxes, or starlings. This area is largely peaceful, with the occasional dispute between somewhat intrusive goblin researchers and others.

Geography

The geothermic vents heat the river from its source to just before the riverlands meet the Deadlands. These vents occasionally cause geysers in the river itself, though these events are sporadic. Several goblins have tried to do studies to predict the patterns of these geysers, but none have been successful. The west side of the riverlands is much steeper than the east, and where the riverlands meet the Deadlands, water flows down the sheer cliffs.

Ecosystem

Due to the warm temperature of the water, many kinds of fish exist in the river, all the way up to its source in Riflian. These fish, which are very active in the warm water of the river and source, are very effective ate eating away the algae blooms that are frequent in the river due to its high temperature. Fish caught in the Mlilm river are considered to be some of the best tasting and healthiest fish in Chenravo due to the extra fat and exercise.

Natural Resources

The natural geysers occasionally shoot fish, and even more rarely, minerals onto the banks of the Mlilm. There are a few nomadic tribes that wander up and down the riverlands, collcting fish and minerals brought to the geysers. While they are not able to subsist off of these resources alone, they often become important parts of ceremonies and rituals conducted by the tribes.

Tourism

In the lower reaches of the Mlilm, after it has crossed the border of Riflian and entered more temperate environs, the river does get some visitors who come to see the heated river. Many of the tribes here welcome these travelers, and are happy to provide food, shelter, and entertainment. There have been a few stories of people connecting exceptionally well with the tribes and being inductied into their number as a full tribesperson. As long as their visitors are respectful of their particular brand of Biethtìre culture, many are openly invited to return. Those who are not, however, are often escorted from the riverlands. If they have been particularly heinous, their point of departure from the riverlands might be the cliffs of the Deadlands.
