Structure

The Legions are under the Lord Commander of the Armies, who sits at the Council of Lords advising the Emperor. Under the Lord Commander are the High Dominars of the regions with Dominar Commanders for each province.  The DC have Dominar Generals under them who communicate with and coordinate the Generals - General Marshall, General Governor (attached to the Provincial Governor with a garrison of troops) and Generals of the Line.  Legion officers command 5 divisions of 5 units of 100 troops. Division officers oversee the divisions while Garrison officers command and oversee units.  Privates and recruits make up the Unit.  As Imperials, nobles will likely be officers and persons of rank and due respect and obedience.

Culture

On one hand the Legions are expected to be a tough, crude, rough and tumble lot. They are also expected to be disciplined, ordered and professional. Women and Lolak are excluded while Quol are full members. ( See Quol and Lolak).  Within the Legions most other status and class distinctions are reduced, though nobles remain nobles. The military law requires obedience and loyalty and protects the lives of soldiers from threat from insulted higher status persons. Only officers five or more ranks above may lawfully execute soldiers and only with cause. Of course there are officers who play favorites or pick on those they judge as contemptible. Within ranks there are leaders and followers, friends, rivals and sometimes enemies. The legion appreciates those who deal with problems effectively and with style, grace and within the rules. Only the most extreme problems should require running to a superior. Failure does get attention from higher ups.

Public Agenda

The Legion are the shield of the People and arm of the Emperor. They root out bandits and keep the roads safe and in good condition.  They patrol the frontier and fight monsters while pursuing the Imperial missions and goals against rebels, wayward outside domains and maintaining the borders.  The Legion may be called in to reign in nobles who violate imperial decrees, bargain with enemies or are excessive in their local rule.  The Legion are called in when the locals are overtaxed or can't carry out missions.

Arm and Shield of the People. Glory of the Empire.

Each of the four sections of the Legion train in special techniques. The most famous are the Legionaries group defense, the Scouts leaping attacks and defensive moves, the archer's ability to bounce shots around bends and the cavalry's Spinning Wheel where both horse and rider become harder to hit while striking out at opponents.
The Mage, Priest and other support units count as parts of the Military but are under separate command. They will as a rule bow to and obey orders from higher ranked standard Legion officers.
The Legions keep small collections of slaves as servitors and support.

Judicial Body
Extraordinary violations of rank, order or discipline will result in a Military court judgement. Military courts are called when three officers of higher rank, or one officer of at least five higher ranks are available to judge a matter. Charges are presented by the ranking officer above the complaint.  The complainant makes their charge. The defendant states their case. The Judging officers call witnesses or testimony and pass judgements. This may be fines, beatings, demotion or slavery, or execution. Jailing is only a temporary storage issue and not a punishment.

I really like the quote at the beginning! If you use a | between the main text and the speaker it will automatically format the quote for you. :)   I love the chart of the different ranks - really nice reference. I also really like the descriptions of the special skills - being able to bounce arrows around corners sounds amazing!

Yeah, still fighting the formatting issues. Thank you for the comments. The bouncing arrows is dramatic and clearly magical..no way you could do that without magic. Also you need a reflector or something, otherwise it is kinda blind shooting. Preposterous idea..except magic.......
