Monic Order
The Claw, Eye, and Fang Monic Orders are a trio of religious orders found in the Akihanid, Jtumtau, and Nuyur Dynasties respectively. The monks of these orders revere Monia as a piece of a private heaven designated just for them and their followers, and they either attain to lower Monia to the ground or ascend to Monia to reach heaven, depending on the order itself.
Monic Monks have martial styles that utilise Vitation Magic, making them faster, stronger, and keener than average warriors. There are strong ties between the dynasties beneath Monia and the Monic Order; the dynastic rulers are often either monks themselves or descended from a famous lineage of monks, and are also frequently depicted as the next anticipated leader who will take their own people to Monia.
Their school of Vitation requires that a monk utilise a certain frequency of sound to awaken their link with the Asterite. This is usually achieved with the voice or with a percussion instrument such as a bell or drum. Drawing power from Asterite does make Monic Monks some of the strongest people in Ebdypha but it comes at a cost: every time power is drawn, the monk takes on a bit of the Asterite's essence, and it can also cause migraines and fatigue, which is usually resolved by some meditation and rest. This essence takes the form, initially, of iridescent patterns beneath the skin concentrated in areas that are most frequently utilised by Asterite Vitation. Over a long enough period of time these patterns become more pronounced and more rigid. This process is known as Asterbane and there is no way to reverse this process. It can lead to a painful death if done incorrectly, but if done masterfully it can result in a perfectly preserved crystallised grandmaster, which will take his place in one of the Monic halls and become an object of reverence and a symbol of perfection and mastery.
