Chrystals
When the Tower of Ubrem fell and caused the Enlightenment, divine light broke through the Firmament. Ork'luso's brethren managed to escape the calamity with the corpse of Ork'luso, and they fled eastward and then discovered that Ork'luso's body began to sprout crimson chrystals. These Hrk'mun built a kingdom known as the Hrk'mun Chrystaldom, but it was soon engulfed by the chrystals, and the Hrk'mun vanished from Ebdypha forever.
The chrystals share superficial resemblance to regular red crystals such as ruby, garnet, jasper, or quartz. Its colour is a warm and strong red hue, and it is translucent and brittle yet hard. It is distinguishable by three means: It frequently emits a very gentle sound of splintering stone or glass, it attacks organic material, and it shifts its shape over time. Legend says it consumed the entire Hrk'mun Chrystaldom within a single night, yet chrystal's growth has been observed at much slower speeds: 1cm per month if near to the chrystaldom, slower within neighbouring countries, and often not at all beyond that. Due to its peculiar nature and tendency to only grow near the chrystaldom, it is intermittently gathered by the Alchemists of Ibrium, usually at the expense of slaves.
Chrystal has three main uses. Firstly, highly skilled glassblowers can encase the chrystal in glass and create jewellery which is normally worn by alchemists. Secondly, it is used by certain physicians in experimental procedures to remove superficial growths and lesions on the skin. Thirdly, it is used as an integral ingredient in Alchemy itself after being transformed into Antechrystal.
