Alchemists of Ibrium

The Alchemists of Ibrium are an ancient order who first warred with the Hrk'mun for control of the Chrystals that the Hrk'mun possessed. It wasn't until the Hrk'mun Chrystaldom became completely consumed by chrystal that the Ibriumites learned from this mistake and carefully harvested chrystal to be studied.

Antechrystals are the key component of alchemy. They were discovered by the legendary alchemist, Omnefia Ukramun, by accident, when he was trying to reverse the devastating effects of chrystals on the human body. He didn't succeed in undoing the damage that chrystals do, but he did discover a byproduct of a certain procedure involving chrystals. The first antechrystal was powdery and pale and lacked potency, but modern antechrystal is refined and valuable, a superior version of its accidental origin.

Alchemists believe that antechrystal contains the pure essence of Hrememun, which was spread to Ork'luso's body during the Enlightenment, and that this pure essence is the key to Hrememun's power over life and death. Though Alchemists themselves do not worship Hrememun, they pay respect to his legacy by constantly trying to learn more about antechrystal in order to try to discover and wield that divine order, and restore the imbalance of life and death that plagues the land.
