Kline
A human noble of unknown origins. Kline doesn't talk much about his lineage but is more than happy to expend their resources to aid in his mission. A driven young man with a few bad habits, Kline set out to find out why the Ursa Islands storm lifted. Purely out of curiosity he set out to learn all he could and eventually landed at the Great Library and The Story Teller. Impressed by Kline, The Story Teller shared his knowledge and accepted his mission.
Kline has acted as The Story Teller's agent on the Ursa Islands for years now, setting up safe houses and growing their network of agents. Looking to build upon this network he called upon the help of an old friend Navirah of the League of Knowledge. She was a high ranking member of her order and couldn't help directly but she offered the help her only subordinate Sebastian Godfrey Morgan. Kline met up with the Acquirer at Bolton Landing and filled him in on the bases for the job of finding certain artifacts. Unfortunately one of Kline's supporters, Vess, had fallen ill at a village near Bolton Landing and they had to bring medicine to her and the ailing villagers.
Along the way the duo encountered bandits looking to steal the medicine. The two decided to fight off the bandits with Kline consuming an alcoholic drink and getting in the mindset to perform his special form of martial arts. During the melee another individual snuck up on the fight and proceeded to intervene. Lando T. Balker arrived on the scene to assist and the 3 soon made short work of the bandits. Kline offered Lando a job on the spot to help them continue the journey. Lando accepted and they soldiered on to the village of Weston where the ailing people gratefully accepted the medicine and Kline was able to help Vess. He stayed while Sebastian and Lando looked for the cause of the problem. They soon returned with a Half-Elf wizard named Del and an unconscious bugbear called Richard who had a reversed mustache shaved into his hairy face.
Sebastian, Lando, and Del worked out a deal with the mayor of Weston and Richard who ran the monster gambling hall. They were all asked to scope out a section of the nearby hills in the monster gambling hall where strange events where happening. The team soon discovered an underground study and research hall of a wizard called Giest. They discovered some of his material and dispatched the leftover experiments. As they left a Bulette exploded from the ground and charged at them. In this same moment a great act of magic took place which summoned a doorway leading to the Great Library and The Story Teller.
The Story Teller and Kline came clean and explained the whole scope of their mission to Sebastian, Lando, and Del. The three took it all in and decided to pledge themselves to help uncover the secrets of the Ursa Islands. It was at this time that Kline introduced them to the other members of the Great Library, Amal Rosas , and Ameeko. Ameeko joined the team and they set off to the Crossroads Library to set up their home base. Unfortunately There was still the matter of the Bulette which awaited them outside the door to the realm. The team defeated the Bulette and they traveled on to the Crossroads library to set up their home base. Here Kline and Del separated and went on their own knowledge finding mission as Sebastian, Lando, Ameeko, and Vess went after the first artifact found by the compass.
During this time Del and Kline traveled along the spine of the Island in search of old ruins or anything on the Island itself that could help. They did eventually find an entrance into a hidden cave system that went into some of the mountainous crevasses. This trip alone nearly killed them and they didn't have the strength to continue so they made notes, hid the entrance, and returned to the Crossroads library in time to meet the team as the returned with the first artifact.
Kline would later travel with Vess and Patroklas back to this secret cave system where they found the ruins of an ancient town. Within this town they discovered a library with unknown tomes that were never recorded in the Great Library. Before they could get anywhere with the tomes though they were attacked by Geist and his team. They barely making it out alive and returned to the Crossroads empty handed and battered. Kline feels great regret at letting his martial arts' bad habit nearly get the killed and has since sworn to study to fight more like Lando.
