The Raptors are the Popes most loyal agents. They make sure that everyone follows the words of the Pope and the laws of the Gods and have the authority to arrest people. They use violence if necessary.

Career

Qualifications

To be a Raptor, you have to be able to pass the Theoretical, and the practical tests. Even tho you pass the practical test you can't become a Raptor unless you also passed the Theoretical as well. Only people fit for combat and with religious intelligence is allowed to enter.

Career Progression

The Education of being a Raptor continues during the profession. This means the raptors pair up two and two, a master Raptor and an Apprentice Raptor. When the Apprentice is ready, he/she will become a regular Raptor. The Regular Raptor is the enforcer of the will of the Pope and the Emperor. Most of these regulars get guard duty in the Temples or if the Emperor wish it, the streets. After a few years in loyal service, they can become Master Raptor, with permission to train a new apprentice. Master Raptors sits also in the Inquisition counsel, from where the Highest Raptor and the Grand Master Inquisitor is supervising every move of the Inquisition Inquisition itself.

They receive payments from the tax collectors.

Other Benefits

The Raptors can come and go as they please, and do whatever they want according to the law of the pope. Some of the most successful Raptors become famous trou out of the land.

Perception

History

The Inquisition was founded in the Begining of the Raptors in 251 AF during the new year festival as a weapon against the Elven heretic influence on the people of Eldercrest. Other heretic teachings came to the Inquisitions attention not until later when the Emperor ordered the Eronium Church to cease the persecution against the Elves as a race. Religions like Reign of Fireand Hecatism rapidly became a problem for the Inquisition. But Hecatism was also against the will of the Emperor established in 140 AF, thus gave the Inquisition an ally against it, the Order of Maigal. Still, this was not enough to prevent the Eldercrestarians from being influenced by other religions.

A regular Raptor (or higher in rank) cares a weapon-belt including swords, venoms, light bombs developed by the Order of Maigal, knives, healing remedy, and a pocket version of the complementary religious law, and a pocket version of the Book of Dale.

Determination in case of Killings: if the killing was provoked or unprovoked. Due to the Book of Dale, killings that have a cause in a provocation is legal, but an unprovoked killing is a murder and illegal.
Determination in case of sexual intercourse: rapes are only illegal widout provocation. If the rapist only was tempted, it doesn't count as he/she was provoked to sexual intercourse
Determination in matters of Faith: If someone is suspected for having doubts about Eronium they will be sent to sovereign rock for evaluation
maintaining of order in the cases the city soldiers are unable to, for example in a tavern
