Slag’s Landing
Named for a legendary event in the mythical wars against the giants. The story goes that the Torvian king had his warriors camped on the shores nearby, their longships beached. A particularly clever giant named Slag swam from the Western Skerries all the way up the fjord to wreck the ships and attack the camp. Being outnumbered and half-frozen, he was not much of a match for the king's soldiers, however.
Come to think of it, maybe old Slag wasn't all that clever after all.
Districts
Slag's Landing is comprised of our major districts or neighborhoods, as follows: The Hidden Steps is the newest area, built on the ashes of the former Temple Court following the Great Fire of 612 4A. Named for the wooden walkways covering the ancient temple steps. Shadow House is the second most modern, sporting two- and three-story wood and stone structures looming over older, single-story buildings. The Old District is, as the name implies, one of the oldest areas of the town. Most buildings here are single-storied, wattle-and-daub affairs with thatched roofs. The Docks is, perhaps ironically, older than even the Old District. Once a sheltered shelving beach used for the settlements here, it is now a welter of trade and commerce between the Slagsmen and other brave enterpreneurs.
