Sanctuary Cuisine Tradition / Ritual in Cava Nox | World Anvil

Sanctuary Cuisine

History

Due to the dwindling rations, the scientists and caterers of Sanctuary have had to resort with searching for viable food and water sources in Cava Nox.   While Sarborcoda are unedible to the human residents, they have found other resources that haven't killed them yet, though side effects are yet to be seen.

Meals

Before the gate collapse, deliveries would be often made to provide fresh food to the residents of sanctuary, about once a week. Most food would be pre-prepared, however there are caterers on-site who will cook and provide the food in the canteen.

Ration Packs

Despite there being deliveries, Sanctuary had a storage of ration packs for squads that are travelling outside into Cava Nox, as well as for emergencies. After the gate collapse, caterers would gradually break down ration packs to cook with.

Meat Moss

Meat Moss quickly became popular on the menu after it was discovered it could be eaten. The moss is processed into blocks and sliced in an attempt to make it look more presentable. It has a vague meaty flavour, and is commonly added to stews, pastas, sides, etc.   Due to the nature of Moss Meat, some refuse to eat it due to fears that it may have human remains in it. It also causes individuals to have vivid dreams.

Void Water

- I was thinking of calling it purified water for group morale.
- What part of this is purified?
- Not sure, that's the best part.
— Sanctuary Scientist to Caterer
Void Water is a black liquid that has been pumped out of the ground, which despite many attempts to filter it, keeps it's distinct colouring. While it's appearance is off-putting, it's still able to hydrate an individual. It has a metallic aftertaste.
