Samuelle Saltonstall

Colonel Saltonstall is a military man who regularly plays in the field of politics. He is currently running for the position of the Legate of Hillend after the previous Legate Vaegraf Vasseur the Recreant deserted the title.
Samuelle Saltonstall grew up poor in the mining town of Appaster. His father worked in the mines, while his mother helped prepare all the food for him and the other workers. Samuelle would always listen in to the tales told by the many travellers that would pass through the canyon, including merchants, tradesman, and pilgrims. Saltonstall was obssessed with the outside world, as he would listen to the stories just as much as he'd pickpocket foreign trinkets the travellers obtained in their journeys. He aspired to move away from the arid climate of the Palar Canyon to somewhere nice and lush as described by the travellers. The apparent money that joining the military offerred was his way of achieving this.
Saltonstall quickly grew the admiration of his peers and climbed the ranks of the army. During his down-time, Samuelle would go back to Appaster to help his parents in the mines. One fateful incident in the mines would result Samuelle losing an arm and a leg, but would stay in the military thanks to the approval given by his superiors.
While a keen marksmen and decent at handling a sword, Saltonstall's best weapon is his silver tongue. He's been described as able to sway an angry mob with his 'Smooth Booze" voice - this most certainly hastened his climb of the military ladder, all the way to rank of Colonel. Although he has the respect and loyalty of his regiment, some have noted that he does often converse with thin air as if it was talking back, and sometimes gives small speeches to a tent of empty seats.
Lately, Saltonstall has been running for Legate of Hillend, a highly prestigous and powerful position politically and militarily. With this position, he will have a significant amount of influence in the trade, military presence, and governmental relations regarding Hillend. Most recently, Saltonstall had a run in with Charlie's Pub Gang after a local church in Bervenia caught fire. He awarded the group a signet, allowing them special access to certain restricted areas, then had a few drinks at Charlie's Tavern.
