Formian-Naporian War

The Conflict

Prelude

With knowledge Pre-Flash muddied by the destruction of the city's libraries, the first written accounts of conflict occurred in The Quiet Year. The citizens of Naporia discovered the ruins of a mine in the foothills of the Ruby Mountains. They quickly set to work rebuilding the mine to make use of the Ore found therein. Unbeknownst to the humans, the Formian hive of the surrounding hills believed the mines and its resources to belong to them. It's tunnels were filled with connections the Hive used to move about as well as caverns filled with the treasures of the Queen.   The Hive being of a logical mindset, believed a fair trade of resources were in order. Disguising themselves in the corpses of humans they attempted to take peacefully food from silos in the ruined walls of the town as compensation for access to the mine. Fearing the new outsiders the town of Naporia rallied a militia to defend the town. Eventually scouts from Naporia discovered a Hive compound in the Northeast of the town, surrounded by an insurmountable wooden palisade.   Since the Quiet Year the two groups have been sending raiding parties back and forth for over a 100 years.

Deployment

In 475 IC, the Formians relocated their Queen and main forces into a ruined castle in the foothills of the Ruby Mountains. The Naporians, unaware of the move, noted unusual silence and a lack of activity from the compound in the foothills. On 16 Aldeber, the militia of Naporia, under the command of Borak Snowberg, launched an expedition to take the compound once and for all.   Upon reaching the compound a squad commanded by Ben Godwin, and outfitted with members of the King of Cups Theater Troupe investigated the compound and found it deserted. The noticed stones matching the white marble of the ruined castle. Captain Snowberg ordered the army to march on the castle.   Upon reaching the castle, Godwin's squad once again was chosen to be sent in to investigate. Upon crossing the threshold of the castle gates, the squad was cutoff by portcullis, and was engaged by hostiles in the castle courtyard. Outside the walls, the militia found itself surrounded by Formian drones and and battle was engaged.

Battlefield

The main battle took place on the slopes of a mountain the ruined castle sat atop. The hills were covered by trees. While the main battle took place outside the walls, the Godwin squad attacked and forced its way deeper into the castle, into the very throne room of the Formian Queen.

Conditions

A bright warm spring day. There were many happy butterflies.

The Engagement

500 Militia Alara Godwin Price Ailiona Elyse Sander Excal   1000+ Formians

Outcome

Upon reaching the throne room, and after dispatching an elite cadre of guards, Price Ailiona negotiated with the Formian Queen. The agreement culminated in an immediate termination of hostilities between the two forces, the Formians would now walk openly and not in guise, and the Naporians would turn over control of the mines back to the Formians. The town was awarded one last shipment of ore, and the mine entrances were sealed by Formian drones.

Aftermath

Blavius IX has ordered now promoted Captain Ben Godwin to the Surestine Freeholds to open up new trade routes to replace the ore in the Naporian economy. The King of Cups Theater Troupe journeyed south to Yokrâft to alleviate a pirate threat and restore trade along the Icewash River.
