Personal history

Born in Naporia, Alara was the eldest child of Mathias and Cassandra Godwin. She is blessed with a brother, Benedict (Ben) only 11 months younger. The Godwin's are all believers in God's of "The Communion of the Six Divine". They have devoted their lives to one God in particular, Cosaint, the God of Protection and Healing.   In Alara's early life, she was quickly noticed as one the most bubbly and sweet mannered girls in town. Her love and devotion for Cosaint was undeniable, and she could never see anything but good in the world. Outside of school, Alara would work with her mother in the General Store, which also happens to be the Godwin's Home. Her father and brother worked in the Godwin's Forge. Also working at the Forge was Elias, a classmate of Alara's, her best friend, her soul mate. However, with their devotions to the Church, school, work, and life... neither Alara nor Elias has the time to act upon their feelings or their desires - but they both knew, everyone knew, the God's knew... they were destined. As Alara finished school, she turned all of her free time back to the Church. She became one of the most widely known devotes to Cosaint in the land. Her genuine personality and compassion was greatly noticed by the Gods and Alara was praised on her unquestioning ability to protect those whom she loved.   A couple of years later, Ben decided to join the Naporian Militia. This was pretty normal to see these young men, devote protectors, join to do just that... protect. But Alara was broken up about seeing her little brother leave on such a potentially dangerous journey. She was a protector too, she vowed to protect those whom she loved, but how could she protect Ben if he was so far away? The morning Ben left for training, Alara went to Church to pray to the Gods for protection over him. For hours she put heart and soul into her words. After finally convincing herself to head back home, Alara tripped over a sack on the Church steps. She looked around for the owner, but found no one. She opened the sack and pour its content into her hand: A pair of gold die, and a note reading "Alara, I bid you Aodo." Aodo? The God of Time and Wisdom? Why would He be reaching out to her...? She put the items back into the sack and walked home. As the day went on, Alara couldn't help but worry about Ben... she knew he had just left, but he was alone, without her... who would protect him? She opened the sack again and poured the die back into her hand... tossing them up and down as she paced, praying to the Gods again for his protection. As she finished her prayer, she tossed the die aside and as they landed, an image immediately began to appear above them. The image began to move. It was a group of men, all dressed in uniform and Naporian armor. Swords draped across their backs. A captain is walking down the line, promoting each young man.. and as he gets to the final young solider, Alara recognizes him immediately. Ben! Clearly weather worn, his hair scraggly and skin tattered, but he is strong, healthy and... the image fades as Alara realizes that this can't be real? Ben only left that morning... what is she seeing? She begins to pray again, begging for answers, praying what she sees is real - and in a faint whisper she hears Cosaint, "My brother Aodo is fond of your love and devotion, he has granted you, Alara, the 'Vision of Time'. This vision is a gift, and only a gift of true devotion. Use is wisely, and never for personal gains." This... would be the first time Alara saw into the future.   As time went on, she would occasionally pull the die out to check on those whom she loved, her parents, her brother, Elias... whom had been travelling for months now as a tradesman for the Forge. But on night, as she prayed for her family's protection, she rolled the die and focused on family... but a different young man appeared, stern of face with eyes of unrest. "Your family Alara, he is the son of your mother's brother... He is alone. Protect him.." She watches the image fade and Cosaint's voice fades to nothing... she turns to her wardrobe... and begins to pack.   The next morning she tells her parents of what she has seen, and they wish her the protection of the Gods. Her mother loads her up with healing potions, bandages and herbs, while her father brings out large leather wrapped weapon. A sword, with a shiny gold handle, embellished with emerald jewels "to match your eyes" he says as he hands it to her. Her mother then hands her a sheath, and a small dagger "my fathers... it is small, and it is dull.. but he fought to protect our family as you are now." They remind her to never lose her devotion, and kiss her goodbye.   She travels a long road towards Lovia, the only sign she can remember from her vision, she literally runs into a man, too busy preparing his smoke to notice her on the road - and as she catches his eye, she can't help but smile and shout out an introduction "Cousin! I found you!"...

Good: Give others aid regardless of their feelings or animosity towards you

Devotion

You are devoted to something larger than yourself: a calling, a deity, a mission, or a philosophy. Whatever it is, it fills your life with purpose, your soul with enthusiasm, and your limbs with strength. Choose your “spheres of influence” that your devotion gives you special insight into:

  • Healing
  • Protection

Also, choose a set of codes, strictures or tenets that you live by—some things you are supposed to do, some things you are forbidden to do. You can also flesh out your lifestyle during play.

Forbidden - Cannot attack first, Must only attack in self-defense, until then will protect and heal.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken

When you prepare yourself to endure some hardship without fighting back, roll+CON. On a hit, you can either take half damage or you can completely ignore one other ill effect. On a 10+, you can also defeat, expose, or frustrate your oppressor with your stubbornness.

Psychic Surgery

When you touch someone, skin to skin, and concentrate on healing them, roll+INT. On a 10+, you heal 1d8 damage or remove one disease. On a 7-9, they are healed, but the damage or disease is transferred to you.

Forebodings of Doom

When you warn an NPC off a future course of action, roll+INT. On a 10+, they decide not to do it. If someone forces them, things go badly. On a 7-9, they do it anyway, if they want to, and of course it goes badly. On a miss, whatever they choose it ends up going badly for you, as well.

Bloody Aegis

When you take damage, you can grit your teeth and accept the blow. If you do, you take no damage but instead suffer a debility of your choice. If you already have all six debilities, you can't use this move.

Saunch Defender

When you defend, you get +1 hold, even on a miss.

Human: When you pray for guidance, even for a moment, if you ask “What here is evil?” the GM will tell you, honestly.

Price showed me true insights into the path I must follow. I will continue to show him to the true light of Cosaint.

Elyse has been through hardships that would break me. They can stand against the darkness I see looming over the world.

Sander needs someone to look out for them. He is a strong and well trained fighter, I want to learn from him.

I will learn Tobias knowledge of nature's gifts.
