The Kurzeme Conclave
The Kurzeme Conclave is a secret organization within the Sword Coast. This schism cult of the Raven Queen seeks to create and control shadow crossings, points around the Sword Coast that they can use to cross into the Shadowfell. Their ultimate aim is to prove themselves to the Raven Queen the way the shadar-kai once did many years ago, and join the ranks as her chosen.
It’s because of this that Aubrey Fine, a Great Reader at Candlekeep, has become their chosen target. Through their travels to the Shadowfell the cult knows that Aubrey was once the voice of the Raven Queen, though why she departed her company is unknown to them. The Conclave and Aubrey are in a cat and mouse game, with the Conclave eager to capture Aubrey to gain the Raven Queen’s favor.
Divine Origins
The Conclave believe that the shadar-kai have failed the Raven Queen and haven't protected her from the dangerous of the Material Plane's people. When the Raven Queen lost her Speaker, the Conclave saw this as a sign to step up their efforts and actively start trying to find ways into the Shadowfell to connect with her. They searched Toril for unwatched shadow crossings, attacking shadar-kai agents for their weapons and entering the Shadowfell in an attempt to connect with the Raven Queen.
