Aubrey is a tiefling sorcerer and one of the newest Great Readers at Candlekeep, appointed by her mentor Bookwyrm. She was previously an Avowed orphan, going by the name Gladness. Her primary focus is the flora and fauna of the multiverse. However, she also consults on matters that relate to the Shadowfell due to the significant amount of time she spent there.

Personal history
Before coming to Candlekeep Aubrey was the avatar of the Raven Queen, making a deal upon her death with the Raven Queen to aid the party Vin Harthad of Elleril (her adoptive homeland after Toril ). Through the actions of her friend and former paramour Vaya von Trellenbach, she was released from her deal and able to return to the living. She decided to return to Toril and take a position at Candlekeep instead of returning to Elleril.
