The Misty Isles

The Misty Isles have been a place of mystery since time immemorial. They are 2 massive islands in the East of The Perassic Sea. They are covered from end to end with tall strange tress, and passing sailors have been able to identify much strange flora and fauna. In the center of the largest isle, there is a mountain range that towers high above the sea.
Many expeditions have been made to attempt to colonize the island, but all have been unsuccessful. The closest to success was an expedition from Zeonica, which lasted long enough to send a letter back to the city describing the wonders they were discovering. However, by the time the messenger ship had returned, the small beachhead town had been destroyed, pulverized by some unknown force. In addition, the bodies of all the colonists were never found. The remains of the town can still be found along the coasts of Isla Magna, for those brave enough to search them out. Legends say that all that enter the mist are swallowed by it, and that it is a portal to The Shadowfell. Whatever the case, the islands remain unexplored and uncolonized.
Occasionally, ships will sail by and try and get a glimpse of what is on shore through a spyglass. some see nothing, while others claim to see gigantic monsters roaming through the mist...
