Llyn Modris

The Llyn Modris, or the "Lake of Magic" in the long dead language of the local peoples, is the lake that once fed a large forest near the current city of Ocs Hall. The lake was worshipped as a place where a water spirit resided, and this spirit was believed to be tied to the fey creatures of the Ocs Hall forest. this lake was a center of religious observance for the The Battanian Confederacy people who lived here before the Swadians arrived.
The lake now has been heavily fished to feed the local peasant population, and it's waters are siphoned off to make irrigation canals for the local farmland.
Despite this deforestation and infrastructure works, many locals will still make offerings to a being the know only as "the lady of the lake". Some say that she still rises from the lake and gives boons to those who worship her. People will still go mysteriously missing, and it is often blamed on the lady taking her revenge on those who disrespect her domain, and take without asking. For this reason, even now no person is quite brave enough to cut down the trees and forest within a mile of the lake, so as not to incur her wrath.
