Seraph Kyrylo

The Seraph of Ambition, Kyrylo, was one of the most loyal followers of the Red Queen during the entirety of the War of Setting Suns. He proved his unfailing loyalty to the Queen when his brother attempted treachery against Her vision, slaying him. Despite Vaska being the Queen's consort and right hand, Kyrylo led many of the offenses during the latter half of the war and became the first of Her Strigoi, called "crimson vampires" by outsiders.

Depiction

Depictions of Kyrylo are commonly the same save a few notable differences. He is depicted as a knightly figure in heavy armor, often with wings of a bat folded behind him and either a sword and shield or bow in his hand. Usually, the bow depicts Kyrylo as the general and conqueror for the Queen while the sword and shield represents him as a patron of honor and loyalty.

History

Kyrylo and Lev, his younger brother, joined the Queen’s army early in to the War of Setting Suns together. They remained a duo for a number of years during the Shattered Dawn Campaign and rose through the ranks. Each were blessed by the Queen’s power, but were split up during the Withering Leaves Conflict and the Scouring of Eldermyst, Kyrylo going west to command troops in Mirage Pass against the dawn elves while his brother went north to Eldermyst. Prior to the Three-Serpents War, Lev began harboring traitorous thoughts and began to act against the Queen. As a show of devotion, Kyrylo confronted his younger brother, and failing to help him see reason, slew him in a duel to the death.

For his loyalty Kyrylo was granted a place beside the Queen with others who would become Seraphs, and was the first to receive the divine gift of becoming one of Her Strigoi, “blood-blessed” warriors. Kyrylo would go on to become general of the battles in the west for the Reckoning of the Sunlit Plains campaign before ascending alongside his queen. He also commanded and trained the first of who would latter become the Blood Knights.

Apocrypha

Some apocryphal texts claim that Kyrylo was infatuated with the Queen and wished to take Vaksa’s place by her side as her consort, but nothing became of their relationship beyond monarch and vassal. There are even claims that Kyrylo once challenged Vaska for his place by Her side, which if true would have been a grave insult to the Queen and her consort. However, these same claims hold no firm answer on whether this duel took place or its outcome, though most assert that Kyrylo was defeated or punished for his attempt.
