Unicorn - Physical Characteristics
General Morphology
The unicorn is a very horse-like creature with a single, pointed, straight, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead.
Indeed, without the characteristic horn, you might find it difficult to distinguish, outwardly, a Calmarendian unicorn from the horse (Equus ferus) with which you might be more familiar
Are Unicorn Ponies a Thing?
Yes.
Compared to the larger unicorns, unicorn ponies have a thicker coat, mane and tail, with proportionally shorter legs, a wider barrel, a thicker neck and a shorter, broader head. The prevalence of pure white coats is higher in ponies than in their full-size cousins.
They generally inhabit mountainous and other less hospitable habitats (though they never migrated west to the Sierra Nevada) and form their own, exclusive territorial communes.
Calmarendian humans are not aware of their existence.
