The Astrophysics of Calmarendi

How We Made Calmarendi and its Environs

We do not, necessarily, have a lot of observational evidence upon which to base what we know about celestial bodies in the City of Stars [NGC 3031]. For many of the data presented within the Geographica Calmarendia, we have taken some basic assumptions as fact and calculated other information using the various equations detailed below.

It should be noted that, as literary creators, none of us are astrophysicists, nor even, necessarily, that good at maths. What follows, therefore, is a gross over-simplification of real-life science and, even within that limited scope we cannot guarantee that we have not also made some horrendous schoolgirl errors which would mean Calmarendi could not possibly exist as we envisage it. If you spot any such errors, we welcome your feedback but, ultimately, unicorn poop and magic faerie dust overrule the laws of physics every day of the week. We are fairly certain that, in any event, it is only magic faerie dust that is keeping Titania from going supernova and wiping out Calmarendi and everything that lives there.

While we come up with some ideas for the optimal method of representing the equations underpinning the literary creation of Calmarendi, publication of this section is in abeyance.
