Malaga
Since the drowning of Navsari, Malaga has become the center of learning for the region of southwest Calernia. Its nearness to Tartessos provides the scholars and alchemists there a plethora of unique and interesting ingredients and specimens to study, and it's large ports and trading connections ensure that knowledge from across the continent passes through the city regularly. Exemplary study under the noble family of Malaga and pledges of both secrecy and service can see someone trained in the art of binding the spirits of beasts to oneself through the use of tattoos. Malagan binders are widely sought after when their terms of service have ended. Though some in other cities know how to perform the binding that ties spirits together, bindings from Malaga tend to have a longer range, better control, and are less prone to make the sorcerer getting them blood sick.
Malaga is run by Lady Yamina Wasil, a shrewd and opportunistic woman. She has managed to avoid antagonizing the other cities and extracted concessions of land, food, and goods in exchange for her remaining neutral in the struggle for leadership. Though her people are currently well off, Lady Yamina knows that she balances on a knifes edge. Malaga requires trade to survive as most of their arable land was lost in the creation of the Titan's Pond.
