Marking Pin

The Nobility of some clans is distinguished only by the displaying of Tattoos, whilst other tribes wear their hair in certain ways or sport grandiose facial hair to mark their social standing The clans of the North choose to permanantly mark their bodies with pecuiliur and diverse sigils signifing certain accomplishments they have gained throughout their lives.                                                                                                                                                                                                                The practise of tattooing was once commonplace throughout the lands of Britannina and the continent at large, harkening back to the age of bronze when children were marked in the ceremonies of the coming of age. Over time this practice fell out of favour becoming only the preserve of far flung and remote communities either frozen in time or locked in securities of tradition.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      The distinguishing marks are made by the abuse of the skin with a sharp needle, the artists pierces the skin before dipping the needle in a dye made from the juice of a native grass. the needle is again dipped into the open wound to mix the dye deep into the flesh creating coloured scars shaped into carious designs. The designs these scars make are too many to number but some are familiar markers of acheivement. upon the coming of manhood a young boy is taken to the hunt and expected to bring down a wild boar, if he is successful he will receive the mark of the boar on his breast to mark his passage into manhood. another common sigil if the mark of first blood, when a man kills another man in single combat for the first time he may receive the mark of his clan on his skin, this may be anything from a totem animal like an eagle, bear or deer to more abstract embelems of heraldic display. As a man matures in social standing withinn his tribe he may receive tattoos on his face to signify his nobility or rank within the clan structure.
