Lero

God of Seeking

Lero, the god of Seeking, is one of the oldest of all the gods. He was by some accounts the first, and is even rumoured to be one of the ancient Amari that sung Calcaria into existence. Whether true or not, Lero possesses knowledge beyond that of the other deities and seeks to keep unbalanced search for it in check.   He rules his constellation of the Open Hand, with the deities Oghma, Niskus, having sworn allegiance to him. Together they keep mortals on the material plane, gods on the outer planes and their combined ambition in check. Oghma and Niskus in particular are famous for intervening during the days of the Malediction against the arrogance of the Eldar.

Divine Domains

Lero's chosen divine domain is murky at best, though most scholar's classify it as 'Seeking' or the 'search, thirst and ambition for knowledge, power and humility'. Few people claim Lero's patronage, save for the Azerai on the Seventh Sanctum, yet even they do not claim to be Lero's chosen. This is strange at best, worrying at worst since all other greater deities claim their own church, mortal champions and clerics, yet Lero does not. Some scholars speculate that Lero is no traditional god as such, but perhaps an Amari of old.

Holy Books & Codes

The Codex   The Codex is a long lost tome, hidden away somewhere on Calcaria by Lero to keep it falling into another god's hands. It is rumoured to contain the following spells, blueprints and instructions:
  • Blueprint of the Heavens Defiler, a spear the size of a city that can destroy a god's domain.
  • Ritual to seal away the sun and the moon.
  • A spell to forge another plane of chaos.
  • The alchemies of the soul of all mortal beings.
  • The language of Death, and its translation.
  • The formula to achieve divinity, in a bottle.
  • A vivid description of the end of the world, how to prevent it, and why doing so would be a mistake.
  • The exact limits of the gods' power.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A lit torch signifies Lero's domain of Seeking, for one needs the light of knowledge to find the correct path. The Azerai keep their torches magically lit, day and night, all year-round to show their dedication to this symbolism.

Tenets of Faith

None, though the Azerai believe in constant learning; whether it is a new language, spell or the charting of yet unexplored lands. They believe only true, uncorrupted knowledge will bring them closer to Lero, though it is impossible to say if their path is correct, for Lero has not spoken nor claimed any mortal souls as his.
