Caer Rogmund
History
Bal Rogmund was a populous Dwarven settlement situated in the Siara Peaks, on the eastern side of Eridas. The settlement was founded in the late Golden Age by two clans of Dwarves; Clan Grimchest and Clan Danûsh. The two clans were strong allies, and together created a bustling settlement under the mountains. As infrastructure was constructed and the economy grew, dwarves from smaller towns in the nearby peaks flocked to Bal Rogmund. The mines were rich in various gemstones, the most abundant of these being malachite. Eventually a trading network was established with the dwarves of Bal Badur on the western side of the continent. A series of interconnecting underground roads linked the two halves of the continents, allowing dwarves to travel between settlements in relative safety; in comparison to navigating a surface brimming with orc tribes.
In the year 421AE relations between the two dwarven clans, now lead by Eirgunn Grimchest and Oglaf Danûsh, began to break down beginning with an event that came to be known as the Great Divide. The century old friends who had been breaking rock with one another shoulder to shoulder would find themselves separated by a large chasm. Literally. The Clan Masters had ordered that the mountain be split in two. None were to mine on the other dwarfs side. After more than fourty years of tension war broke out and the Seven Years War began.
The conflict raged for just over seven years until Eirgunn Grimchest was assassinated. Oglaf Danûsh was nowhere to be found after the assassination. The two clans, now without a leader, decided to end the hostilities. Neither of the clans could hope to live together again after the bloody conflict so the gates to Bal Rogmund were sealed and teh settlement abandoned.
