The Hymn of Freedom Myth in Calandor | World Anvil

The Hymn of Freedom

A popular song amongst humans, it was written by Corvus Jerth, a human bard, following the event known as "Humanity's Last Exit". The lyrics are the following:   (Verse 1) In the lands of olden, where the Elvish fiends reigned, Behind gilded cages, bound by magic chains. For two hundred winters, under their hard steeple, A banner of war raised by us, human people!   (Chorus) To the East, to the East, to the morning's first light, We march to the dawn, leaving the night behind. Our freedom is calling, hope's river is flowing, Onward, onward, to the bright future we march.   (Verse 2) Our spirits are broken, under the Elven yoke, But hope is still singing, and in every word it spoke. The chains are shattered, the cages are splintered, The path towards freedom will never be hindered!   (Chorus) To the West, to the West, to the setting sun's glow, We follow its trail, our sorrows are gone. Our freedom is calling, hope's river is flowing, Onward, onward, to the bright future we march.   (Bridge) In the face of tyranny, united we stand, Foolish elven beasts, whose reign will end...   (Chorus) To the North, to the North, where the bright star glems, Guided by the sky, powered by our dreams. Our freedom is calling, hope's river is flowing, Onward, onward, to the bright future we march.   (Verse 3) Our hearts afire, betraying our ire, Beyond the horizon, our new home is rising. With the strength of the mountains, the resolve of the sea, In every heartbeat whispers, we are, and always will be, free.   (Chorus) To the South, to the South, where the warm winds will blow, Carrying our story, for the whole world to know. Our freedom is calling, hope's river is flowing, Onward, onward, to the bright future we march.
