Jarveth Mosk Character in Calandor | World Anvil

Jarveth Mosk

Back when humans lived conquered under the Elves, there existed human mages wou would be appointed by the elves as leaders of small communities. These mages, known for their arcane prowess, would report to their elven overlords and their goal was to keep their subjects content and pacified.   One such mage was called Jarveth Dosk. A young handsome noble, he was tasked with leading the human community in Ellysia, the capital of Elves. He managed to do many great things for the humans there: established a new school, lowered the community's high taxes and was even in active field duty against magical threats. He was so famous, that even other human communities knew of him.   And while his work was great and his fame even greater, he was soon butting heads with the higher ups. Jarveth was trying to negotiate more freedoms for humans and he was proving to be a big liability for the elven monarchy. Soon, a plan was hatched and Jarveth was accused of working with orcs to take down the high king. He was charged with high treason and sentenced to death. The day of his execution bloody protests begun all over the city from the human populace, though they were in vain as his fate was already set in stone. According to human mythology, when Jarveth got axed down, a small blue butterfly landed on the hand of the executioner, proof that he had killed an innocent.   His death marked the start of a long line of wars between humans and elves and sparked the large exodus of humnas form the elven cities. Jarveth is a very important person in the human mythos and statues of him can be found all over human cities. He is almost deified and considered a saint of the modern church. Blue butterflies are also thought to be to be his symbol, and the butterfly crest of the Coalition shows that.
