The Amada Commune

Revolution

As Laurena's government collapses due to a mismanaged war, a rogue brigade of the National Guard storms Fort Maroon and arms the citizenry of Amada.   Under leadership of revolutionary fighter Catarina Vargas, they overthrow the local government and hold on to the peninsula for over 7 months, during which the region is run as an independent commune, in one of the first recorded instances of socialist governance.   The Lauren Armed Forces retake the peninsula in October, suppressing the rebellious population, and torturing Vargas before executing her. "Red Catarina" becomes known worldwide as a socialist martyr.
