Common Union

The Union of Communal Republics (UCR), also known as the Common Union, is a supranational political and economic union of 42 member states that are primarily located in the continents of Bruna and Lusia, with an estimated total population of over 800 million (roughly 17.8% of the world population). The UCR is the successor to the International Revolutionary Alliance, and functions as a federation of autonomous syndicalist and socialist republics that operate within an internal single market.   The UCR utilizes a standarized system of laws that apply in all member states, governing matters that the member states have agreed to act as one. UCR policies aim to create institutions that will surpass the nation-state; ensure the free movement of people, goods, and services; and further the International Popular Revolution while maintaining a united front capable of defending its interests. A single currency for the union was was established in 1294, functioning as legal tender for all aspects of civilian life that still require purchasing (which can vary from state to state).   The UCR has been described as a political entity without precedent, and over the past decade has been partly successful in withering away political divisions among national and racial lines.

History

Background

The predecessor to the Common Union was the Revolutionary International (Revintern), formed in 1248-4a with the signing of the Calderhall Treaty between the The Commonwealth of Ardun and other newly-created socialist states. The "Red International" was initially a defense pact between the revolutionary governments of the time, with the stated goal of furthering the proletarian revolution.   As more countries joined the alliance over the next two decades, a bigger focus was put on economic cooperation, as some member states were suffering from resource shortages. This cooperation would slowly develop into economic and administrative integration, which initially came with pushback due to nationalist sentiment within member states. This sentiment would largely vanish after the Grand War, when the IRA won a hard victory over the Maurin Pact through international cooperation and solidarity.
