Black River Coalition
On the coast of the warm waters of the Aiuran Sea, sandwiched between the Kingdom of Carrak to the East, Dawne to the West, and Celesta to the North, the Black River Coalition is a collection of free cities that have formed a loose alliance to protect against those that would do them harm. The largest of these cities is Black Canyon, a Tabaxi dominated city that is built into, across and above the walls of the Black River Canyon as the Black River winds its way through the arid highlands. The lands of the coalition are rich, with plentiful ore in the highlands and areas of highly fertile ground in the lowlands, where the river floods regularly. Many view these lands with jealous eyes, and Carrak is currently invading and trying to take land in the East, but is being stalled by the rugged terrain of the Eastern reaches and the knowledge of the land by Coalition forces.
The Coalition comprises of six city states; Black Canyon built into the canyons of the Eastern Reaches, Valois and Fortenessa in the central plains, Ternfall on the southern coast, Ashwith in the mountains of the north, and Fallow's Fortress on the western border with Dawne. Each city is run in it’s own way, acting as a petty kingdom, or city state, depending upon the local custom. But all the city leaders communicate regularly and, even though friction between the cities is common over things such as trade and mining rights, the cities very rarely come to blows with each other.
Structure
The Black River Coalition is run by the leaders of the six separate city states that make up the coalition. They meet and communicate regularly to ensure that certain laws and decrees keep the cities working harmoniously together, but otherwise each city state is run by it's own leader.
Public Agenda
The agenda of the Coalition is to ensure the longevity and survival of the member states and their populace.
Foreign Relations
The coalition pursues healthy relations with many other nations, ensuring a free flow of trade. Carrak is a notable exception, with whom the coalition is at war.
