March 17 Report in Caerdwyn's Toll | World Anvil

March 17

General Summary

The PCs wandered about, buying some stuff in Fort Caerdwyn. Anastasia found a alchemy shop, The Bee's Hive, with the help of Lucia. Anastasia made 1 Athelas Elixir and 1 Eruldar Brew here, buying the supplies and paying to use the owner's alchemy lab. Anastasia quickly realized, just how expensive alchemy was.
During the night of April 12th, a Friday, Devok's room at the high class inn, the Crown, was intruded by an assassin claiming allegiance to House Szron of Greihoalt. Devok quickly chased the assassin out of his room, out the window. He jumped out of it himself, landing in a pile of hay. He then lost the assassin and went back to sleep.
During the night of April 13th, a Saturday, Devok was selling sweets he took from his room in the Crown. At dusk, a man approached him, buying 15 "Vienna Sausages". Suddenly, Devok had a bag thrown over his head, and a noxious fume threatened to force him to pass out, however, Devok removed the bag with ease, and revealed his newfound buyer was holding a gun pointed at him. Devok went into a berserker frenzy and charged the man, only to be shot and knocked unconscious.
The next day, April 14th, a Sunday, Magisters began to make a stage in the main town square. Come night, during a storm, town criers called out that all must attend this execution of a murderer at the stage in town square. 100 Knight Templars guarded the stage, which had 6 poles on it. The poles each had chains connected to pulley systems. On the stage were 5 people, 2 Dwarfs, one in chains on each limb, the neck, and the torso, the other in shackles and wearing priestly robes, 2 were Magisters guarding the priestly Dwarf, 1 was a Knight Templar overseeing the execution.
Devok was being held accountable for the murder of Knight Templar Avasis, the assassination of Lady Aimme of house Szron, and conspiracy against the crown of Greihoalt. Devok was forced to renounce his father, grandfather, and great grandfather of his paternal line. He was then asked to renounce his Ancestor Gods verbally and by killing the priest in front of him. It was announced that if he did, he would die quickly, where if he refused it would be torturous. He refused. At that, the Knight Templar raised a torch, and the chains on Devok began to lift, pulling him into the air, suspended by each pole. He was slowly drawn and quartered. His blood glowed in the night, as proof that Devok was a Shade of the Forefathers. Devok "Stonebranch" had died.
Come April 18th, a Friday, the prison breakout that the group had been hearing about was ignited. Mid-Day, the rebels gathered 640 chosen sourcerers, to join the escape. They met near the gate to the Cove Port in the cliff that the true Fort Caerdwyn resided in. Kruszik rally his dwarfs and the sourcerors. A cart carrying Bredan's Fury was tumbled towards the gate of the Cove Port, exploding it open. Mean-st while, unknown to the players, a prison break was also being ignited in the proper Fort. The group of Dwarfs and the sourcerers charged towards the gate, while Magisters blocked the fight. After 10 minute of fighting, the group managed to get aboard one of the 8 heavy frigates, taking severe wounds. The ship filled up with sourcerors, set sail towards the port entrance. Behind them, the group heard a voice "Ye killed Levok, and now I'll bring us all to hell!" from a Dwarvish voice, shortly later, a cacophony of explosion erupted all over the cavern port, killing all of the warriors in the fight, as well as all the sourcerers behind them. The cavern began to collapse. The crew of the group's ship manned the arcanite cannons and took aim at the towers that held up a rope net, blocking any passage out the cavern, with 2 barrages, the first a miss, the second a major hit, they took the tower down, dropping the net. From there, the remaining 6 ships sailed out the cavern at full speed. Only 240 of the 320 Dwarvish and Elvish Ad Naggrundi made it out alive, and only 480 of 640 sourcerors were rescued.
After recouping with some medicine and surgery work, the group noticed some ships approaching across the sea. They bore the flag of House Temer, but as soon as they approached, they changed flags to House Grímar, indicating they were pirates. Nehyr Ryhen, a newcomer to the group, used some sort of unknown magic power to gaze into the future and saw 2 futures, either the ship was on fire, or the captain of both ships were clasping hands and then drinking. The captain of the new ship approached, the two parties agreed on giving the pirate captain 2,000 silvers worth of crafts from Fort Caerdwyn in exchange, the captain, Krak II Grímar would take his ships and raid the now vulnerable Fort Caerdwyn and leave the escapees in peace. The group accepted and rested as the ships sailed to Neu Rocque. Kruszik met the group as they landed, and informed Velimir Ziemniak of the deal he was to fulfill by taking him to Storm Haven and getting his father, Belobog Ziemniak to pardon him, in exchange he would get their Source Collars removed.
Ironhoof, was rescued from the Fort prison, and taken down a secondary route down to the cove port. His ship was nearly sunk, as a ballista bolt slammed into its hull, but the crew, and some luck, managed to keep it from
