Wild Growth Spell in Caelum Prime | World Anvil

Wild Growth

Effect

To make an item or items grow bigger

Side/Secondary Effects

If done correctly, the side of effects are mental fatigue alone with some physical weakness as well. The porporation are equal to the size, scope and output for this spell.   If not done corretly, there will still be the mental and physical effects as well the object being destroy. Every Thalara is warned to only use this spell on living (non-sentient) species because when this one done on a non-living object it exploded and killed the Thalara before it disappeared. The other Thalara also died because the it caused the sentient being horrible pain and caused it go insane.   There is no way to avoid the side effects.

Manifestation

There is the giving of energy from the Thalara doing the spell into the living object he or she is growing. Since the focus is on what is being grown, the look and smell is going to take on the desired object. Sound will depend on the location and the Thalara's preferrence.   Depending on how big one wants the object (and what the object is) will depend on if there are any strange whines or creaks, or groans in the air.

Source

Belief is that this and all of the Thalara's power comes from Infinite Grace. In reality, the power comes from the person themselves. This power can be supplemented by laylines, imbued items, and by the element one most assosicates with.

Discovery

It is unclear who first discovred this spell. As such the hows of discovery have been lost. Through time, it has been refined, defined and redifined for a better understanding of what this spell can and can't do, as well as for minimizing the side effects.   Over the years, this spell has been used on a small scale to entertain a crowd, to help grow gardens, to help a fledgling forest thrive after a natural disaster or as replanting due to Human interference.   Only once has this spell been done on a large scale. It was done by Scarlett Forge to enlarge (make taller) the trees that surrounded the cottage she was living in to keep herself hidden. But since she didn't have her intentions cleary focused, not only did the trees grow larger but the Old Willow Woods, Cheria expanded in size, trapping the Lost Dragon Tribe within its new borders. Enacting this spell nearly killed Scarlett Forge. As it was, she ended up pulling power from nearly every other Thalara around the world, killing them as she drew the power she needed.

Material Components
It is important to have the object in hand or be where the object is in order to do this spell because the Thalara is tranferring energy into the object to make it grow.   Examples:
  • A Thalara wants to enlarge a flower for someone, then the flower itself is needed in hand for the spell to work.
  • A Thalara has been asked to make a garden bigger, the Thalara must be in that specfic garden (at or near the center whenever possible)
  • Scarlett Forge stood outside her cottage with the trees around her when she enacted her spell.
Gestures & Ritual
If possible, the Thalara should have his or her hands on the object being enlarged. If it's a large area, such as a garden, being at or near the center is preferrable. Depending on the age and experience of the Thalara will depend on whether or not the chant needs to be said outloud. Some Thalara not to need words (not even silently in their heads. But this method does require a lot of concentration and precise intention for it to be effective.
