Commodore of the Star & Dragon Yacht Club
The Commodore is the elected leader of the Star & Dragon Yacht club for a period of 2 years. As winners of the bi-annual Poker Run, they have exhibited prowess in piloting and captaining a spaceship along with wit and wisdom to have dealt with the other challenges inherent in the race. Generally they will be successful in a business pursuit and have had some background as a leader prior to becoming elected, although this has not always been the case.
Within the Dalkit 422 System the Commodore plays an important part in spaceship and business related social circles. They may be called upon to settle disputes between captains or other entities where they are considered to not have a direct relation.
Some server multiple terms and become quite famous within Dalkit 422 System and also outside. Those who serve more than 3 terms usually have some reputation in surrounding systems. Those serving more than 5 terms may even have been heard of in the central core systems due to their reputation with the Captains travelling throughout the universe.
Qualifications
Be the owner and Captain of their own ship and winner of the S&D Yacht Club Poker Run.
Appointment
The winner of the bi-annual The Poker Run is deemed too be the most fit for title and duties of the Commodore of the club. If, for some reason, the Commodore is not able to continue in their duties, then the First Captain (who is elected by the membership at large) takes over the duties for the remainder of the term.
Responsibilities
Elected leader of the S&D Yacht Club responsible for executive decisions as defined in the Constitution and By-Laws of the Club and as voted on by the membership at large.
Benefits
There are no financial benefits as the position is an unpaid, voluntary one. However, they are referred to as Commodore throughout their lifetimes and have perks and privileges at the club.
