Siege of Eburacum
The Siege of Eburacum was a siege and ensuing battle in Cumbria that occurred in 484 when King Uther Pendragon of Logres agreed to stop Cyning Octa of Nohaut and Cyning Eosa of Deira from attacking Eburacum in Malahaut.
Though King Uther Pendragon of Logres was first cousins with the grandfather of King Héraut de Après of Malahaut ("The Centurion King"), the two large kingdoms have often feuded over the disputed territory of Roestoc.
In 484, the Saxon cousins Cynings Octa and Eosa and their armies raided Malahaut from their nearby kingdoms, Saxon-occupied former Cumbrian territories of Nohaut and Deira respectively. They laid siege to the capital city of Eburacum. In an attempt to forge an alliance and strengthen his bid for High King of Britain, King Uther put the Roestoc feud aside and decided to muster his army and help drive back the Saxons.
King Uther's army mustered at Linden Pool and marched towards Eburacum, but were ambushed by Cynings Octa and Eosa in a surprise attack. King Uther's army was quickly and brutally defeated, with King Uther barely escaping and rallying his surviving troops to retreat to Mount Damen.
The Battle of Mount Damen occurred shortly after.
