Lady Elaine of Winterbourne Stoke
Lady Elaine ͏͏͏͏
This article is about the wife of Sir Amlyn. For the daughter of Duke Gorlois, see Lady Elaine of Tintagel. For the countess of Salisbury, see Countess Ellen of Salisbury. For the princess of Somerset, see Princess Alene of Somerset.
Elaine was the wife of Sir Amlyn and lady of Winterbourne Stoke in Salisbury.
Elaine previously had a poor reputation among the residents of Salisbury, as her lover was hanged for killing her first husband. She married her second husband Sir Amlyn in 479. Due to a misinterpreted prophecy by Merlin the Magician, Amlyn spent many years terrified of her.
In addition to Winterbourne Stoke, she held four Salisbury manors of her own. She had one daughter, Meinwen of Winterbourne Stoke and one son, Kyffin of Winterbourne Stoke.
She went missing in 483 but was rescued from Sir Blains of Levcomagus the following year.
Elaine eventually succumbed to sickness and died in 491.
