Duke Lucius of the Saxon Shore
Duke Lucius ͏͏͏͏
This article is about the duke of the Saxon Shore. For the royal confessor, see The Holy Cross-Cut.
Lucius was the youngest knight in Britain and the duke of the duchy of Caercolun, often called the Saxon Shore. He was one of the richest knights in Logres and owned most of Caerwent and Caercolun, holding more lands than anyone in the kingdom except King Uther Pendragon.
He was taken in as King Uther's ward in 480 after his father Duke Ventrius was killed in the Battle of Salisbury.
In 483, Lucius' wardship was granted to his aunt Baroness Pomponia of Clareia under the custody of her vassal knight Sir Marvis de Revel, and Lucius was knighted and made a duke. The baroness and Sir Marvis were to rule as regent in his name, as acting duchess and seneschal respectively, until he came of age.
Lucius was killed in a Saxon ambush alongside Sir Marvis in 486.
His coat-of-arms was a gold fasces with red bands over a black crenellated wall against a red field.
