Abbot-Bishop Illtyd

Abbot-bishop Illtyd (a.k.a. Saint Illtyd)

Illtyd is the Cambrian abbot-bishop of Llanilltyd in Escavalon, and was the British Christian religious advisor to King Uther Pendragon.   Though not canonized, he is commonly referred to as "Saint Illtyd". A skilled warrior before joining the church, he is also occasionally known as "Illtyd the Knight".   He participated in the trial of Sir Amlyn of Winterbourne Stoke, The Silver Wolf of Lighthorne, and Sir Penwyn of Oxenwood in 492.   Illtyd is a nephew of Queen Ygraine.
