Defences

The city has several tiers of defensive walls around its core in the traditional dwarven fashion. Bastions and towers scattered throughout the city boast cannonades which can be brought to bear with incredible speed. The docks are home to the Duwern Armada which provided constant watch over the surrounding waters leagues away from the city.

Industry & Trade

Port Alvai is home to a menangery of smiths, tinkers, enchanters, alchemists, fabricaters, and artificers. Most of these pay taxes, fees, and fines of every kind imaginable during their daily operation. This brings in a steady flow of cash to the city's coffers in it's own right.
The City also boasts one of the largest ports in Tourgasse through which docking fees and tarrifs are collected at staggering sums daily.
More recent developments which promise a boom of industry include the develop of semi-atonoomous constructs and skyships. While both industries are in their infancy they have already garners a large deal of attention and funding with many companies and factions vieing to be the first to stake claim in the new market.

Tourism

Tourism in Port Alvai is largely that of the acedmic kind. Artificers, tinkers, and engineers from all of Tourgasse make trips to Alvai to experience the growing technological boom of the city. A smaller though much more lucrative crowd of tourists visit for the promise offered by some of that advancement. Wealthy merchants and tycoons visit the city in hopes of landing exclusive contracts or lucrative trade deals with the wide array of mechanical miricale workers in the city.

Architecture

Port Alvai's architecture can be best described as a cluttered mess. Traditional Dwarven elements such as sweeping facades, bold steps, and impressive thuroughfares are shot through with pipes and conduits. Atop the old city arises a newer more economical breed of building prioritizing function over form. The old streets are now more than a few floors removed from the open sky and the spaces above them are a maze of walkways, pipes, and wires.
