Section 2: The Shackles of the Great Chain
The cultist plan to use the shackles to bid the spirit of the Ever Eating God to a construct until a compatible host can be found or the cult figures out how to turn him into a God
Structure
Exposition
The cult has moved the shackles into the city of Chitinia of Sladovia. The city was picked because of a rumor of a section of the great chain being visible from a ancient excavation site. A ritual will be performed to bind the soul of the Ever Eating God to a construct (Warforged chassis, stone or iron golem, ect). The shackles prevent the soul from leaving the construct it was bound to. The cult plans to use this to buy some time until the Ever Eating God can become a full fledged god.
Conflict
The protagonists will need to cross the Sladovian border to enter Chitina. They will encounter cultist, Sladovian and FIC Military to get across. Chitinia is currently purging suspected magical creatures from the city, toting new magical detectors. If the party contains magical creatures then they will need to find a way to make their way into the city.
Rising Action
The party will need to figure out how to cross the border. Likely spots include Station City or finding another a ship or airship crew willing to take them. If going through station city the party will need the necessary funds to cross into Sladovia or perform a bank heist within the city. The bank heist will take place within the city, and the mark is the one and only currency exchange the Railway Currency Exchange. If by ship or airship, when crossing the border a security check will be performed by cultists disguised as Sladovian military. Within the city major conflicts are going on with the cultists trying to strengthen their hold on the city of Chitina with the three churches using their militant sects to provide resistance to the threat.
Climax
The Links of the Great Chain seem to know something about where the cultist are trying to gain access to and wont tell the protagonists unless they prove that they are to be trusted with the knowledge. About 7 years ago while mining for rare minerals, a mining group came across a strange structure. Upon breaching the structure several miners entered, but never returned. The Chitinian military was called down to investigate, but they went missing too. That is when the Links of the Great Chain arrived, and after studying the ancient ruins not blasted by the miners they realized it is a ever changing pathway to one of the chains that hold the physical realm together. After getting to the excavation site the cultist will defend the godly item with force, attempting to buy time for the high priest to finish the rite. It has since been guarded by the Links of the Great Chain, until the cultists came and took over the city and cut it off from most outside resources. To prove that they are trustworthy, the protagonists must assist the Links of the Great Chain by stealing much needed medicine and food so they can keep up the fight.
Falling Action
The protagonists find notes that clue them in to the whereabouts of the remaining item(s).
Resolution
The protagonists continue to collect all three godly items before the cult can raise the Ever Eating God.
