Season 4 - Episode 3
General Summary
GRIMEY finds himself in the crowd in front of the school. He saw the rest of the kids sneak in through the back so he took it upon himself to sneak in too. Being much quieter than the rest he got in undetected. GRIMEY sees the other kids jump in the BUBBLE but notices the GUARDS not going in after them. From his vantage point behind the computers GRIMEY sees our images in the BUBBLE of LAKE MEAD.
GRIMEY decides to jump in too. He stumbles at first but catches a lucky break. He gets seen, but they are too slow to stop him. He throws up a peace sign as he is pulled away.
GRIMEY is on the cliff, and heads down the path. He sees his friends crowded around SOMETHING.
XANTHI notices the newcomer while CASSIUS is still preoccupied with the DEAD BODY. While the kids move the BODY GRIMEY gets caught up on what is going on.
He is keen to help and says: “What’s the worst that can happen.” CASSIUS looks over to the dead body pointedly.
Unsure how to proceed, XANTHI suggests finding a BOAT. The water is very dangerous so this does not seem like a good idea, though she insists she can make it happen.
CASSIUS originally wants to see if a ROAD might be nearby, but we are in the past and there is no such development. It would take DAYS to walk anywhere.
GRIMEY heads back up the CLIFF while CASSIUS investigates his KLEIN HELMET BLUEPRINTS. In conjunction with those, he figures that the BUBBLE will change in about an hour to a new location. If this new location is helpful remains to be seen.
XANTHI goes to find a boat. She does! But it is half crashed out- it is very useless; however, there are a bunch of tools including a WRENCH and a CROWBAR. She and CASSIUS are now CROWBAR TWINS. They both take great joy in this fact.
CASSIUS relays the information he uncovers from his INVESTIGATION as we all head back up the CLIFF. We decide waiting for the BUBBLE to CHANGE is probably best, though it is dangerous. We do see the GUARDS through the BUBBLE. It looks like they are running around, but not fast enough- The BUBBLE changes to a FIELD with a HOUSE on it. It’s not dinosaurs so we decided to hold hands and jump in.
We get shot out in front of TWO CONFUSED INDIVIDUALS. CASSIUS is busy making sure everyone got through, but XANTHI recognizes the two people as PARENTS from out schoolmate- NELSON and MARGE SHEEDY.
They ask what we are doing here so we make a lame excuse about playing extreme tag. “We got lost and lost track of time… and space.”
They humor us and invite us in. There is a huge POLICE BLOCKADE so they are surprised we are even there. Inside, the TV is on and it tells us more about the MASSIVE BLOCKADE.
The POLICE approach the HOUSE, so we tell the SHEEDY’s that we DON’T WANT TO BE FOUND. We give a lame excuse about having ANXIETY, (GRIMEY even says the POLICE inappropriately touched him once), and that we need the washroom. The SNEEDLY’s prompt us to head UPSTAIRS so we get out of the way, though we don’t really trust them.
We listen in on the conversation while making a ROPE LADDER. The POLICE we see are no ordinary COPPERS, they have several MILITARY BARS stapled to their chests. At the front door they say that they need to requisition the HOUSE because there is something of NATIONAL SECURITY in the BARN.
MR. and MISS SNEEDLY think it must be the RUSSIANS.
We decide in a split second that it could be another BUBBLE so we jump down quickly hoping to get to the BARN before the POLICE do.
XANTHI and CASSIUS get down fine but GRIMEY FALLS which makes a noise- CASSIUS and XANTHI turn around to hoist him up into a shared carry, but the POLICE turn to see us. They spend an embarrassingly long time staring at us, likewise we stare at them before tearing off at great speed towards the BARN.
We are all on adrenaline- CASSIUS, GRIMEY, and XANTHI make it- but XANTHI and GRIMEY take some damage. XANTHI and GRIMEY feel injured and exhausted. The other kids veer off into a different direction. We know they are okay but that they are momentarily gone. Hopefully they will find their way back.
CASSSIUS, XANTHI, and GRIMEY wake up in front of a CHURCH. We recognize it but the doors are closed and there are BLACK TENTS and BLACK VANS everywhere outside. The windows are all covered in BLACK PLASTIC. This does not bode well and everyone is still feeling poorly.
CASSIUS asks if they should find a place to hide or press on. XANTHI and GRIMEY say they can handle it- so, we resolve to go in. In the distance we see a DOG-LIKE ROBOT on patrol (the same model as ASIMOV). It seems to be heading to the CHURCH.
We go inside one of the BLACK TENT attached to the CHURCH side door. CASSIUS grabs a GASMASK on the way (a full suit is a bit too cumbersome). XANTHI and GRIMEY don’t comment on this or move to grab any of their own equipment.
Inside, we see a SCISSOR LIFT. When we look up at the DOME of the CHURCH we see a BLUE MEMBRANE that looks like a timefield. The LIFT seems to go into the membrane which is showing the flowing light of WATER.
We take a second to think about it and the DOG-ROBOT. We have a few minutes before it enters so we deliberate between just going up or fighting the ROBOT. CASSIUS also asks GRIMEY if he has had any SHARED DREAMS about DROWING. Of course he has.
We take our chance to look around and CASSIUS notes the WIND and DUST are moving up. We pull out our weapons and begin to fight- We need 3 successes for this extended trouble.
XANTHI jumps into action to throw her SLAY BRACELET at the ROBOT-DOG. It wraps around the sensor- reading LIVE LAUGH LOVE. The DOG trips and slides in front of CASSIUS.
(1/3) Successes.
He is impressed by the bracelet’s power, and loosens a huge SMASH HIT. It is cripled the machine-dog though it still tries to stand back up.
(2/3) Successes.
GRIMEY goes in with the KILLING BLOW. He is used to putting animals out of their misery.
(3/3) Successes. Boss defeated.
The DOG-ROBOT dies but we don’t have a moment to celebrate because 3 more DOG-BOTS appear. We head to the LIFT but it is JAMMED. CASSIUS has to put in some extra effort to get it to go- he manages.
GRIMEY fights one off but XANTHI can’t quite manage. We all get to the LIFT. CASSIUS and GRIMEY grab the dog and hold it while we go up into the WAVES. We hit the water and it malfunctions. While it squirms, XANTHI encourages us to all take deep breaths and prepare to swim as fast as possible.
The WATER is dangerous, dark and deep, but we swim quickly towards the SURFACE. It’s a long way up but we all make it.
Gasping on the surface, we see a barren MOUNTAIN and a HOT SPRING in the distance. 50 M in each direction is the shimmering end of the BUBBLE. There are 3 small SPHERES in a net placed on the edge of some GRASSLAND- it seems BUBBLES are being drawn in.
We head over to the BEACH and try to relax but there are several animal-like shrieks. CASSIUS sighs “It might be dinosaurs.” We still spend a moment or two catching our breath and playing would you rather- GRIMEY asks some pointed questions about being in a PYRAMID SCHEME or a CULT. CASSIUS asks some pointed questions about COMA patients in return. GRIMEY admits he would love for his DAD to wake up but he loves his FRIENDS more.
When the squawks and shrieks get louder, we deliberate hiding before we decide to investigate the MACHINE. CASSIUS and GRIMEY attempt to open up the MACHINE. They recognize it as a TIME ANCHOR- there is measuring equipment present- and we see the machine sends out a unique identifier run by geothermal energy.
CASSIUS wonders if he could change the identifier. He probably could but does not know what the consequence would be.
We feel the ANCHOR is stable so we head into the grassland. A PTERODACTYL lands in front of us. At first we were a little scared but it was kind of young and cute. XANTHI tries to bribe it with some SOGGY TWISLERS she had swiped from BARBARA’S HOUSE. It nudges XANTHI, clearly liking her best. She names it BUBBLES. CASSIUS and GRIMEY just coo at it, though GRIMEY notes he would love to hunt a PTERODACTYL some day.
In the distance, a new BUBBLE forms. Out pops a MAN who takes off a HELMET. HE is confused. The HELMET looks like a futuristic KLEIN HELMET. He has an FOA BADGE on his lapels. “What are you kids doing here?” he calls.
Behind him, another BUBBLE forms and the rest of the KIDS pop out. They gently fall into the grass.
