The Spear of Úrkoma Hakon Brightaxe (a.k.a. Krakenbane)
It is well known that the Goliath rarely reach old age due to their long traditions as warriors, explorers, and heroes of their lands. That said, when an older goliath is encountered people do their best not to draw their attention. Hakon Brightaxe is 50 years old. How did he survive so long? Breaking tradition is a start.

He's a bit past the absolute prime of his life, but the active lifestyle of living on the Frozen Coast lends for him to be in splendid condition.

Raised the traditional Goliath way; through trial and error, experimentation, and adaptability, Hakon thrived and broke the old traditions that shackled his people. Along this journey, he discovered the power of magic that resided deep within him and taught himself the ways of the sorcerer.
Employment
At present, Hakon is the leader of the Golíatlendir(Alliance), as such, he oversees the high level operations of the organization along with the other ranking members. He is also the military leader of the settlement of Úrkoma.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Under his leadership, a small fleet of ships hunted and killed an adolescent kraken that would have threathened the Frozen Coast if left to mature.
Failures & Embarrassments
Unfortunately, of the 3 ships that went out to sea with him to fight the kraken, only his ship returned. The loss weighs heavily on his conscience, even though further havoc would have ensued if the creatures was left to its own designs.
Intellectual Characteristics
Hakon is a rare forward-thinker, something of a maverick among his people. As a result, much of his early life was spent in relative isolation, though this gave him much of the space he needed to experiment with his magical powers and his cunning. He is more capable in a melee than many other Goliath, however the title of best warrior belongs to another. His skills in strategy and magic more than make up for this, however.
Morality & Philosophy
Seeing how the rigidity of his people stiffled them so, Hakon decided to travel to the other great settlements of the inhabitants of the northwestern coast. He learned patience from the Firbolgs, strategy from the Dwarves, Magic and mental strength from the Dragonborn, and just about as much fighting from all of them. Using those diverse cultures as bedrock for the mountain he would craft: Golíatlendir.

Among his skills outside the art of combat, he is well known for his industriousness, a trait common to his people. In rare contrast, he is also known for his generosity and conscientiousness, a somewhat new pair of concepts for his people. Not unheard of, just... infrequently applied, especially from the olden times. Additionally, his impartiality, forbearance, and eloquence in language are what allow him to be well respected among the other leaders and people in the alliance.
Vices & Personality flaws
- Occasionally drinks to much and is prone to magical outbursts when drunk.
- Is more sentimental due to his long life and connections than many other goliaths, sometimes on rare occasions, certain pointed insults can get him riled up.
- He is most criticized by the younger goliaths for being too slow to act. Mostly, this is a reflection his rare status of being 15 years older than the next oldest male.
Wealth & Financial state
His renown is his wealth. Generally speaking he is about as wealthy as high ranking lord in Varda, generally well-off. However, most of this id due to him receiving massive discounts or outright free goods due to his stature and position. He is widely perceived as being fair, however, and rarely revels in excess without also inviting many more people to join him.
