Known as the Chromatic Queen, Tiamat is the Lawful Evil Goddess of the Dragonborn and Mother of Dragons. In the Dawn Age, she and her counterpart Bahamut united to create the first dragons. Though their collaboration birthed the dragon species, their differing ideologies led to a bitter rivalry that persists to this day.
During the God War, Tiamat was imprisoned in the Nine Hells, sparing her from the exile that befell other deities. As a result, she is now regarded as one of the Outsider Deities, separate from the dominant divine hierarchies but still widely revered by dragons and dragon-kin.

Personality and Traits

Tiamat is renowned for her arrogance, insatiable greed, and unrelenting hatred. She views mortals as tools for her ambitions, never forgiving any slight and holding grudges for eons. Although she can be charming when it serves her, her true nature is cold and calculating, and she has grown cautious but no less ruthless since her confinement in the Nine Hells.

As the Goddess of Dragonborn and Mother of Dragons, Tiamat’s influence reaches far and wide among dragons and dragon-kin. Commanding the Chromatic Dragons, she instills in them a belief in superiority and encourages the pursuit of power. Her followers believe that offering her treasure strengthens her connection to the mortal world and may grant them her favor.

Relations with Bahamut

Tiamat’s rivalry with Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, is central to her nature. Though they once united to create the first dragons, their values could not be more different: Bahamut champions justice, while Tiamat seeks only dominance and wealth. This divide has led to a split loyalty among dragons and Dragonborn, with each side embodying their chosen deity’s ideals.

Tiamat’s followers include Chromatic Dragons, Dragonborn, and ambitious mortals. Although her worship is less structured than that of other deities, her influence remains strong among those who respect her ferocity.
