Necrophligosis

Transmission & Vectors

The condition is transmitted to the child in the womb. Though not every child born under these circumstances will have the condition, the transmission rate is high enough to be worrisome.

Causes

A compound that is taken by those who work closely with daemon tech in order to protect them from the harmful Aura produced by these devices. Has no effect on the taker but can produce the condition in offspring if taken during pregnancy.

Symptoms

Any wound received by someone with this condition does not heal on it's own and is highly prone to infection and necrosis.

Treatment

Wounds must be kept clean and covered at all times. An injection of serum is given to kickstart the healing process and special ointments are applied under the bandages to keep the healing process going.

Prognosis

Providing the wound is treated in a timely fashion it will heal as any normal wound would, though it takes nearly twice the time. If infection has already set in, then exta ingredients are added to the serum and ointments to help combat this. Surgery is required for those who leave their wounds long enough for necrosis to set in. The dead flesh must be cut away and sometimes amputation is required. Wounds on the head or torso, which are allowed to necrotise, often lead to death of the patient as doctors are limited in what can be successfully cut away here, and funnily enough amputation is not really an option.

Prevention

As of yet there is no substitute for the serum taken by those who work with daemon tech, and for most people it has no noticeable side effects, though worry is growing over the possibility of hidden ones. The law states that anyone who becomes pregnant must immediately cease working with daemon tech until their child is born. This has slowed the number of cases, but not all in Salike are mindful of the law.

Is this the condition that Sebastion hinted at having?   I like that this is a condition that manifests in babies in the womb. I would assume it mostly comes from people taking the compound when they don't know they are pregnant yet? I'm glad that there is a law attempting to control this, but I guess if people are desperate enough...

Darn, that is some dangerous work-environment effects. Terrifying, but sadly, quite realistic. I would love to see a summary on top of the rest of the text to get a peek on what I am reading but other than that, this seems awesome! Keep up the good work!
