Negres Nomads

After the cataclysm that shattered the Negres range, it was believed that there were no survivors of the tribes that once called the mountains home. With the fertile valleys now buried under the broken mountains or washed away by storms, there is little to support such tribes. As order was reestablished and opportunistic criminals arrested, it is certain that some of the more desperate may have fled into the Negres to try their chances there. What fuels that conjecture is one Rabal Greenthrone, a halfling of no small repute and mastermind of the Cipher Cabal, has never been apprehended nor found. For a time the guard of Nowvrond simply stationed scouts along the easier trails leading into the Negres and trapped escaping criminals. It’s been more than eighty years since then and the guard is no longer posted. It is unknown whether the nomads that currently reside in the Negres are descendants of wanted criminals, fragments of tribes that banded together, or some amalgamation of the two. Little is known about the nomads. There are few reports of their movements and the size of villages despite surveys of the mountains by airship. Travel is so difficult that few adventurers are interested in taking an anthropological contract. After the cataclysm, any ancient ruins that may have been hidden in the mountains are almost certainly destroyed or buried beyond finding. This further lessens any desire for exploration of the range. Recently, there was an eyewitness report of the movement of one of the nomadic tribes. It seemed they moved under overhangs and snags of rock and used domesticated giant lizards as animals of burden. They marched in good order and carried banners. This was counter to the behavior of the hereditary tribes. If the people at Noborkva know more about the nomads, they aren’t exactly offering any news. However, scholars have many questions about the history of the ancient peoples that lived in the Negres, and about the nature of the cataclysm.
