The deities available for worship are not the standard ones from Paizo. There are nine custom deities that hold the greatest influence over the realm due to one thing – they live in it, on the material plane. Because of this, all other divine influence is kept at bay. Since there are less deities to choose from, there is a lot more overlap in terms of each aspects. But just like with the alignment’s that they represent, it is all a matter of perspective. These deities, and followers of them, are less picky when it comes to how they perceive providence. The greatest emphasis is on finding the best way to apply a deity’s blessing to the situation. The only exception to this is The The Fed Goddess; most sane people try to avoid relation with anything that clearly has her mark.
Though the nine deities block other forms of divinity in Tepherial, lesser outsiders from the Great Beyond are still able to assert their influence. Angels, archons, devils, demons, and so on can still hold sway. For example, even an angel who belongs to Dalenydra – a neutral good empyreal lord – may answer the call of a like-minded individual if it’s for a cause shared by the angel or the demigod. There are stories of evil outsiders seeking to anchor themselves in Tepherial, usually by corrupting or controlling mortals, though evidence of such activity is practically non-existent.
There are still some that do not follow these deities, and opt to worship something else. Not for lack of belief, as they do live within the world, so even an atheist cannot argue against existence – it is more of a disagreement with the veracity of their divinity. Such people generally belong to Purity Legion Enforcer orders. Still, the Purity Legion respects the ideals of Chevalier and Ziohr, and have amiable relations with worshipers of those deities.
The next most prominent form of religion in the world is the Green Faith. This is common amongst the majority of fey creatures, druids, and those who have a strong affinity for the concepts of fate, balance, or who strongly respect nature. Because it is a more personalized belief rather than one with a tangible representation, it is not affected by the nine deities. Several sects of wood elves and moon elves follow the Green Faith. Followers of Green Faith are generally on very good terms with followers of Ysryn, but not so much The Grey Goddess despite the mutual alignment.
