Zook Fizzingbuns
Zook is somewhat of a mysterious figure. The young gnome has travelled far from his home village of Thistlewickwithin the Hassel Forest on the southern continent.
He and his best friend Jeb decided to run away from home after a prank went wrong injuring an older woman. Whilst fleeing, Zook got trapped in a snare, hanging by his foot in a tree. Jeb decided to go back and get help, leaving Zook alone in the forest. Out of the darkness emerged a shadowy figure, approaching him silently. The figure took Zook, dragging him off to an old abandoned manor, where the man made him fight other monsters and creatures, seemingly for his entertainment. Zook later learned that the man that had taken him was called Dralgoth. Zook managed to escape, fleeing as fast as he could to the nearby city of Vid Havet where he snuck abord an achored ship.
Travelling by sea for weeks, if not months, Zook was finally discovered by the ship’s sailors when he was trying to steal some food from the stored provisions. The crew wanted to throw him overboard, but the captain took pity on him and locked him in the brig instead. There he stayed for several more days until the ship arrived in the port of Merrifort. Several soldiers came aboard and took him off the ship by the request of the captain. They told Zook that they were going to sell him to someone, but that all changed when they realised that he could use magic when they saw him casting a minor illusion spell. Right then, their attitude towards him changed, even though Zook explained that he was just playing around. To his surprise he found out that magic was banned in the land where he had ended up.
The soldiers tied him up and put him in the back of a wooden cart, covering him with blankets and only uncovering him for food breaks. They travelled on the road for days, until one night the cart happened to stop. Zook heard a lot of commotion and fighting from the soldiers that had been escorting him. After the fighting had stopped, there was quiet until the blankets covering him were pulled back, an elf stood before him in the dead on night. It was here that Zook met Qildor of Gilgalad, Grognak Odinson and Balfor Boreus, who had fought with the soldiers on the road to St Austead. With Zook not knowing where he was, or what to do, he agreed to go with them on their way to the Capital of the Kingdom of Veritria.
