mekis̀luts

A mekis̀luts /mʲeˈkiʂluʦ/ is a magical device used by the Neurzhor to erase an item or location from a person's memory. Each device is keyed to a specific item or location. That allows them to be used selectively without the user of the device knowing specifically what is being erased. In this way, the Neurzhor help protect their secrets even as they erase them from peoples' memories.
Each mekis̀luts is unique, although each is a rod approximately 12" long. The details and design of each rod is unique to the item or location it is keyed to. When a new item or location needs a mekis̀luts, a new one is created.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

To use it, touch the rod to the subject's forehead and recite the command word. The command word is kept secret.

Manufacturing process

Creating a mekis̀luts requires the participation of five individuals. One creates the rod, one provides the initial magical infusion, one provides the item or location imprint, one provides the memory spell magic, and a final participant locks the magic within the rod. Each step is performed in isolation.
