Perith Basicilica
This building is the largest church used by the Temple of Sevina. It is located in the Holy City of Perith and overseen by the Prester of Perithia.
While not the true religious capitol, as the Erikan Cathedral of Sevina located in Erikadia City is the home of the High Priest of Sevina, the Perith Basicilica is where the King of Erikadia, and later the Emperor of Erikadia have their coronation. It is also the destination of many pilgrimages from all over Erikadia and Notria.
Purpose / Function
This temple stands as to serve the faithful in Diocese Perithia, and act as the capitol building for the Diocese. This because the Prestor of Perithia holds temporal in the region.
The Basilica has places set aside for the collection of taxes, distribution of public services, along with enough room to hold 2,500 people in a religious service.
Alterations
The Basilica is constantly being expanded, and a large campus has been built up in the center of Perith. The Basilica Compound also acts as the cities Citadel, so their are many layers of both old and new walls.
Architecture
The building and its many additions are made from white and grey stone quarried from the Kanad Mountain Range which surrounds the Diocese. It is one of the oldest buildings in Kingdom of Erikadia, and so its style looks very primitive in some sections compared to the general splendor of new churches like the Erikan Cathedral. It is still quite impressive for its size, and its many arches and large windows give the faithful a feeling of awe when the enter.
