Steelhaven

A city located on one of the islands of The Shattered Chain. It was founded when a Darisian slave ship was taken over by an uprising of the slaves being transported to a new and dreadful destination. Filled with strength born of desperation the slaves overcame their captors and took the ship.
They found a small independent island settlement and joined it, and soon word of their exploits reached the outside world. Other escaped slaves fled to them, and the men and women of Steelhaven worked hard to help such people get to safety.
Steelhaven grew. It soon became a city of the bold and the dauntless. Perhaps it should have become a utopia of liberty but it did not. The nature of mankind is immutable and the strong, violent founders of Steelhaven ruled as strong and violent people always do. The population was not one of egalitarian libertarians, but one of violent and desperate people looking to gain more power.
The city became a home of thieves and pirates, of outlaws and the desperate, and so it remains. Its location is hard to reach and its people are notorious thieves and brigands. It is a city where money and wealth are paramount and the people there will do all they can to secure their own personal power and gain more.
