Rashgar
Rashgar Fairhair
"Power is not in the body—it is in the mind. Strength fades, but knowledge endures. And I intend to endure forever."Full Name: Rashgar Fairhair Race: Half-orc Class: Wizard (Universalist) Alignment: Lawful Neutral Titles: Apprentice to Delcar, Heir to the Fairhair Name
Appearance & Presence
Unlike his sister Rykeena, who inherited the physical prowess of their mother, Rashgar is built lean and sharp. His yellow-gold eyes burn with intensity, always calculating, always learning. Though his natural hair color matches his father’s, he dyes it red—whether as an act of defiance, identity, or some private meaning, he does not say. He cares little for fashion or presentation, favoring whatever robes or cloaks are practical. However, he hoards magical items with a collector’s hunger, valuing anything that enhances his power or knowledge.Parentage & Philosophy
Rashgar’s parents are Reigar Fairhair, a former smuggler turned knight, and Rashida, the legendary champion of the pit fights in the city of Greyhawk. His mother is a warrior of near-mythic renown, a name spoken with reverence in the fighting pits of the Baklunish territories. She is direct, fearless, and nearly unmatched in combat—but she is not known for her intellect. Rashgar dismisses her brand of strength as crude and meaningless in the grand scheme of power. His father, Reigar, was clever, a smuggler before he won Rashida’s heart. Strong and brave in his own right, Reigar is no fool, but Rashgar remains unimpressed. To Rashgar, his father’s cunning is wasted on a man who settled for honor over ambition."If you think with your fists, you’ll die with them. And I don’t intend to die."
Magical Mastery
Unlike many wizards who dedicate themselves to a single school, Rashgar studies all forms of magic. His hunger for knowledge knows no bounds, and he has little care for the traditional divides between arcane disciplines. To him, evocation is a tool, divination a necessity, necromancy a resource, and enchantment a means to an end. His master, Delcar, recognized this early and did not attempt to limit Rashgar’s studies. Under Delcar’s guidance, Rashgar has become one of the most formidable young wizards in Gorundia—and he knows it."The world is built on power. Those too weak to grasp it are the ones who complain about its weight."
Strength Beyond Magic
Despite his devotion to magic, Rashgar is not physically frail. Unlike many wizards who shun combat, he has trained to withstand, endure, and fight when necessary. Though he will never be the physical equal of Rykeena or Rashida, he has no fear—not of battle, not of death, and certainly not of those who believe their fists are stronger than his mind. He does not charge into fights recklessly, but when he does strike, it is decisive and without hesitation. If combat is necessary, it should be swift and efficient—anything else is a waste of time.Relationships
Rykeena Fairhair: His sister and opposite in many ways. She inherited their mother’s strength, but Rashgar considers himself the true heir of their father’s cunning. While they spar verbally as often as they do physically, he respects Rykeena’s prowess and considers her one of the few people worth his time. Reigar Fairhair: Their father. Once a smuggler, now a knight. Clever, but still bound by outdated notions of honor. Rashgar respects his intelligence, but finds it wasted on a man who chose a life of fealty over true ambition. Rashida: His mother. A living legend to many, but to Rashgar, her brand of power is wasted on brute force. He does not hate her, but he does not admire her either. He respects her victories, but not her methods. Delcar: His master, mentor, and the only individual Rashgar would ever call his superior. Delcar’s mind is one of the few Rashgar considers worth studying.Final Thoughts
Rashgar Fairhair is not a villain. He is not cruel for cruelty’s sake, nor does he seek power simply to dominate. He sees the world as it is—a place where power determines fate. He has no fear, no hesitation, and no illusions about what it takes to be great."The world does not care if you live or die. It does not reward weakness or sentiment. It rewards those who understand it and shape it to their will. I will not be shaped by the world. I will shape it."
