Svartalfheim Jotunborn in Beyond Ragnarok | World Anvil

Svartalfheim Jotunborn

The Jotunborn upon Svartalfheim are used to harsh conditions and sparse food. They are a hardy people, who live in nomadic groups outside of the Svartalfar cities. They are not allowed in the Svart cities, and trade between the Jotunborn and Svarts is strictly controlled by the Anvil’s of each city.

Clothing:

The wilderness does not leave much to be worked with. There are no fancy fabrics or bright colours out in the marshes and mountains of Svartalfheim. Most Jotunborn wear fur, leathers and materials such as wool and linen gained from the sparse flocks of sheep and flax crops kept at their permanent settlements. Any armour is scavenged metal from hunted Automata bashed together into pieces of armour. It is often worn with pride as part of general outfits, as well as for battle purposes.

Facial Markings:

None required, nor even attempted whilst hunting as most Jotunborn do not need help to camouflage.

Attitudes

Jotunborn on Svartalfheim have a very practical outlook on life, and do not take stock in a lot of material possessions. As the majority of the population are nomadic through the hostile marshlands, mountains and sparse forests, they live light and quick.

Of the other races upon the realms, there are three views of Svartalfar; anger for leaving them to die in the wilds, gratitude for them for allowing them to live there at all, but most prevalent is a simply absence of consideration. All Jotunborn are historically used to being shunned, so the Svartalfar are no different to normal.

With regard to Humans, most Jotunborn know them, live with them, or hunt with them, and so they are friends and battle-mates. There is some occasional wariness of Humans due to old persecution, but that was a long time ago, in a world they have not been to for generations. Upon Svartalfheim, life is hard, and having enemies who live with you just makes life harder.
