Mantor Character in Beyond Greater Anghor - A Middle Earth Adventure | World Anvil

Mantor

Background

Mantor is the formal name given to the head of the Anghor Thum library. The current Mantor has presided over his position for more than four decades. He proceeded his father who also served for over fifty years. Of the same temperament and disposition, the similarity of the two men's reign has led many to believe the same person has lead the knowledge base of Greater Anghor for a century.

Personality

Placid and known to be wise, Mantor has befriended most in Anghor Thum, as well as gaining the trust among many throughout Greater Anghor. His newest protégé, Eschelon, a young but similarly tempered scholar has placed his trust in Mantor and as is his wont, Mantor has decided to mentor the erudite student. Their recent collaboration has revealed many secrets about the ancient pre-history of Anghor lands, as they translate the first Book of Letters, and a trove of other papers recovered by Eschelon and the Traveling Minstrels.

Growing Conflict

As Mantor and Eschelon dug deeper into the origins of the Angric Lands, they began sending assistants to locate any ancient works they could find in the area. This ran them afoul of the collector and local landlord Grady McCreary who saw this as yet another opportunity to speculate and make money. The two groups are now in competition to locate as many of the tomes and works as they can, one to save and decipher history, the other to make as much money as possible.
